Rather than lengthy recipes and complex processes, her ‘agak-agak’ style is about cooking with soul, creating accessible dishes with explosive flavours, such as Chilli Crisp Puttanesca, Steak au Sichuan Poivre and Kaya Croissant-and-Butter Pudding.

In addition to her television work, Julie co-hosts the OutOut Podcast alongside Aarti Joshi and Up Next Studios, where they explore various food and lifestyle topics and taboo discussions.

She also runs her own recipe channel, Use Your Noodle, which has become a go-to resource for home cooks looking to explore innovative and delicious recipes.


Restaurants

Julie’s entrepreneurial spirit shines through her restaurant ventures. She opened her first restaurant, Julie's Kopitiam, in 2017. The restaurant quickly became a local favourite and was Michelin Recommended every year it was in operation. Building on this success, Julie co-founded Ga Ga which has been celebrated as the 'Best Restaurant in Scotland' and is highly recommended in Glasgow and throughout the UK for its exceptional Asian and Malaysian cuisine. The restaurant’s design, which Julie played an integral role in, is a tasteful and respectful fusion of her heritage, creating an inviting and authentic dining experience.

Community

Recognised as one of the top 20 most influential women in Scotland, Julie is deeply committed to her community. She teaches cooking and restaurant skills to children and serves as a keynote speaker at events aimed at inspiring the younger generation to pursue culinary careers.

Writing

Julie's writing career has developed to extend to her contributing and writing for esteemed publications such as Conde Naste, The Observer, The Guardian, Courier Magazine, BBC Food, and Vice. She is a regular recipe developer and opinion writer.
